As an already successful private, nonprofit children’s and family social service agency, our client and friend Youth Homes approached us in spring 2014 to collaborate on a brand refresh and new website. The organization, which has enjoyed steady growth over the last several years, wanted a fresh approach that would make a big impact.
Trilix’s first step in the brand refresh process was to create a more modern, clean and simplified look for Youth Homes’ logo and other marketing materials. The new logo features a pathway that runs through its center, representing a path to independence for children and their families. We also updated the organization’s color palette to represent a more relaxed and calming atmosphere.
Once we completed the brand refresh, Trilix turned its efforts to the website. Because 90 percent of Americans own cell phone and 63 percent of adult cell phone owners access the internet on their phones, we decided to create a responsive site that is user friendly and attractive on all size screens, whether a cell phone, tablet or desktop computer. We also wanted to incorporate large, welcoming images to help portray Youth Homes’ inviting, friendly setting.
In addition to making the site visually pleasing, Trilix updated the donations page to be intuitive and easy for potential contributors to use, and we incorporated an annual fund page to indicate year-by-year progress. We added new sign-up forms for Youth Homes’ Golf Classic and annual meeting, allowing attendees to access information and register online. In addition to the improvements for external audiences, a section for the Youth Homes staff and board members was built, featuring important documents, meeting details and more, to make information easily accessible with a few keystrokes.
