Trilix is honored to receive a 2018 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Award in the Documentary — Cultural Category for its video, Cultivation: Writing and Wrestling in Iowa City. This video was created for the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, also known as Think Iowa City, which is the area’s official destination management organization.
“We are humbled to be recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Upper Midwest Chapter, for our work with Think Iowa City,” said Brett Adams, partner and chief marketing officer at Trilix. “This video represents the collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit of the Iowa City/Coralville region and brings together two truly unique activities that have passionate fans.”
The results were announced at the 19th Annual Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards Gala on October 6th, 2018, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. The Emmy® Awards focus on excellence in video and television, in which the entrants are judged on a “Standard of Excellence” based on three main criteria: content, creativity and execution. There were 3,451 total entrants this year. Trilix was one of two nominees in its category.
“We wanted to document the unique position Iowa City was in, hosting two international events in the same week, and to let the story tell itself,” said Josh Schamberger, president of Think Iowa City and executive producer on the project. “The film exceeded our expectations. It is something all Iowa City area residents, visitors, wrestling fans and literary lovers can enjoy and be proud of.”
The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was founded in 2005. The Emmy® Awards recognize many disciplines of television, including news, sports, documentary programming and individual talent. The Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® award is another great recognition for the Trilix video team, who recently received five 2018 Telly Awards.
“This tremendous honor would not have been possible without the hard work, creativity and dedication of everyone involved from Trilix and Think Iowa City,” notes Ron Maahs, partner and chief executive officer at Trilix. “At Trilix, we are storytellers at heart, and we thank Think Iowa City for trusting us to share this unique story.”
