When it comes to crunching numbers and thinking creatively, Trilix clients get a two-for-one with Media Specialist Travis Ziemke. A Chicago native and Iowa State University graduate in advertising, Travis started his career at Windy City ad agency Starcom, where he was a media associate doing national TV planning and buying for Microsoft and Kellogg’s. At Trilix since early 2014, Travis helps with strategic planning and buying for all types of media, including radio, TV, print and online. His clients include Vein Center at Iowa Heart, Heartland Tire, Mercy North Iowa and Friendship Haven, among others.
We sat down with Travis to hear about his recent move to Des Moines from the Windy City, where his collegiate loyalties lie, to uncover his celebrity crush and more.
You recently made the move from the Windy City to Des Moines. What is your favorite thing about Des Moines so far?
So far, my favorite thing is “The Jethro” sandwich at Jethro’s. It’s just so much deliciousness on one plate! I will have to prove to all my fellow Chicagoans that good food does not only exist in Chi Town.
You’re an Iowa State University graduate. Give us your best pitch on why the Cyclones are better than the Hawkeyes in one sentence. Go!
Better tailgating + better basketball + better football = better team. It’s simple math, people!
Let’s get down to the important issues. Who’s your celebrity crush? (Don’t worry, we won’t mention this to your girlfriend.)
It’s a tie between Scarlett Johansson and Brooklyn Decker.
You’ve been given the ability to flip a switch that will wipe any band or musical artist off the earth. Who would you choose to eliminate?
I’m sure many would disagree with this answer, but I would have to say The Beatles. I just don’t understand what all the hype is about.
If you could spend an entire afternoon picking the brain of one person (living or dead), who would you choose? Explain.
Probably John Wooden. He is, in my mind, the most inspirational coach that ever lived. I'd be curious as to what life events led him to create all his famous quotes. If you haven't heard of Wooden, here's a taste of his many famous quotes: "If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?"
