Trilix is thrilled to congratulate our Director of PR/Communications Director Jana Rieker for being awarded Million Women Mentors' State Leader Award. The award was presented in September at the organization’s Summit & Gala in Washington, D.C. As co-chair of Million Women Mentor’s Iowa Chapter, Jana was recognized for her advocacy for Iowa STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) initiatives. Together with Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds and other community leaders, Jana works to raise awareness about the importance of mentoring women and girls who want to pursue an education or a career in a STEM field.
Iowa currently leads the country in providing educational and career opportunities in STEM-related fields. However, as our state’s needs in these fields continue to grow, we will have to find more ways to fill those positions with qualified individuals. As it stands, there are far too few women entering STEM educational and career paths.
To encourage Iowa girls and women to pursue a STEM education and career, Million Women Mentors is recruiting one million STEM mentors. If you are interested in helping develop Iowa’s future workforce, visit www.mwmia.org. Or if you or your company already provides mentoring opportunities for girls, please join Million Women Mentors’ “Be Counted” campaign and help Iowa become the first state in the country to reach 5,000 mentors.
