When asked where she’s from, Morgan DeBoest says her heart belongs in Des Moines. Morgan was born in Des Moines, lived in Urbandale following a few moves around Iowa, then headed to Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. College brought her full circle, back to Des Moines, where she attended Drake University and earned a degree in magazine journalism and minors in graphic design and English.
Morgan joins Trilix’s PR/communications department as a social media coordinator, helping clients with social media coordination and strategy and writing. Before coming to Trilix, Morgan worked for Meredith Corporation — writing web and newsletter copy, doing social media and designing.
We sat down with Morgan to find out all the important things — her favorite chip flavor, her not-so-known talents and what keeps her busy outside of work.
What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
I have an eight-month-old puppy (a fluffy mutt) named Wilbur who keeps me on my toes. We love to take him to the dog park and farmers’ market! I also run a food blog, Sunny Side Up, and love to take classes at Power Life Yoga downtown. Other than that, you’ll find me with my nose in a book, at happy hour or listening to true crime podcasts.
If you could travel one place in the world, where would you go?
Italy! I’ve been to Florence but would love to explore the Amalfi Coast, Venice and Capri.
Breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Breakfast. At any time of day.
What is your favorite chip flavor?
Fresh warm tortilla chips and LOTS of queso.
Tell us a fun fact about you not many people know.
I started college as a double major — piano performance and journalism! I’ve played piano since I was five, also played alto and tenor saxophone, oboe and guitar, and I sing. And I do have a few stories that start with, “This one time, at band camp…”
Please help us welcome Morgan to the team!
